"That's My Tent!"
The 4th Annual Harrington Camp Out was a lot of fun! It was so great to see everyone-it had been almost a month! Once we arrived at the Crags Campground it was time to set up camp! Chris and I received a tent from his parents at our virtual wedding shower in July and were eager to use it! It was a great little tent and easy to put up... once we knew how! Our tent has a little "grommet" at the back of the tent that functions as a very tiny window, very cute! After camp was set up we relaxed for a bit and waiting for Bethany and Alex to arrive; once they did it was time to cook dinner! That night we had steak grilled over a campfire with baked potatoes, salad, and banana bread! It was soooo delicious! Once the sun set it was ridiculously cold; coming from 95+ degree heat I was frozen!! I was very thankful for the sun to come back the next morning and warm everything up... just a little bit.
The next day we went on a hike up to the Crags-it's about 3 miles round trip so not bad at all! However, Chris and I definitely felt the altitude; we usually don't since the campground is only about a 3000ft gain in elevation from Colorado Springs. Since we came from Greeley which is about 4000ft it was more like a 6000ft elevation gain. Who knows though, it takes various times to get acclimated to higher altitudes but we definitely felt winded when we went hiking! Phew! On the way back down to the campground, Chris and I stopped at our tree to add '10. It's so cool to come back to the tree each year and see how our past carvings have "aged." We cannot wait to go camping again next year and add '11. Plus the camping part is fun too!!
This week I am meeting with an Avon Representative to get signed up to sell the products! My mom does it and it is an easy way to make just a few extra bucks while enjoying discounts on make-up! I am also meeting the family I am going to nanny for on Friday for a "trial day!" Pray that this goes well! Chris continues to enjoy his job and is receiving a lot of great customer reviews! That's my hubby!!
It's a quiet week this week, but we are still enjoying every minute of being married, we wouldn't trade it for anything!
Does anyone have any favorite fall recipes they'd like to share? Meats, breads, veggies (squash recipes!), etc?! :)
Pot Roast is good this time of year. Buy a 1 - 3 pound "arm chuck roast" or "pot roast" and put it in the crock pot. Cut up and add onion, potatoes, carrots, green beans and a can a cream of something soup. Leave it on all day and you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteAlso, roast chicken. Buy a whole chicken and rinse it off. Boil carrots and cut-up potatoes, onions for 10-15 minutes. Put the vegies in the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish. Ooh, you can add apples, too. And garlic. Then add your chicken. Sprinkle some seasonings on it, like pepper, garlic, rosemary, thyme...then roast it all at 450 until done - 1 hour at least, up to 2 hours. Poke the vegies to test for doneness and squeeze the chicken leg to tell if it's done. Or slice a little of the meat and see if the juices run clear.
Mmmmm sounds delicious! I will have to try those!
