It has been one and a half months since Chris and I tied the knot-can you believe that?! It seems like forever ago, yet at the same time it really doesn't! We are still loving Greeley. It continues to stay hot though; yesterday we set a record high of 93 degrees... IN SEPTEMBER!! Hopefully it will start to cool off soon. Speaking of cooling off, that reminds me of snow, which reminds me of snowboarding. I just checked out Warren Miller show times for this winter season. Should Chris and I go see it in the Springs or the Loveland/Fort Collins area? Hmm...
This was my first week of work and I loved it! I didn't love waking up at 5am though and working an almost 10 hour day but the little girl, Lauren, is absolutely adorable. She is probably the most easy-going baby I have ever known. But Chris and I are thankful we both have jobs now and at the rate we are making money we are making about $400 each month over our needed budget. Praise God! He is really taking care of us and providing everything that we need. We are continuing to love Christ Community Church here in Greeley and we are going through a great series right now! We are studying Genesis 1 and 2 together. I cannot begin to describe to you the first sermon of the series; it was eye-opening and just amazing. If you are curious check out the sermon here: http://cccgreeley.org/321339.ihtml (9/12/10)
Yesterday we made Dad's Dip and Grandma Harrington's Famous Spaghetti. Both secret family recipes and they both turned out delicious and perfect. We love cooking together and Chris is still teaching me techniques: I know how to cut things with a big knife all fancy now! We are still trying to come up with things to put on our weekly menus... Have any ideas??? It is so tempting just to get a pizza or go to Taco Bell but homemade meals are so much better but it's hard to come up with stuff to make because the cookbooks can become overwhelming. Ahh!!
Please continue praying for Chris and I. That our marriage would continue to be wonderful and that God will continue to bless it. That we would enjoy our jobs and work with servant's hearts; when Chris has to deal with an angry customer or when I am so exhausted it's hard to play with the baby. Pray that Chris and I will continue to lean on each other and on God and that we would trust in Him to provide for us. Pray that I can figure out what is wrong with my car this weekend! Thank you for the prayers. :) We appreciate them so much.
If cookbooks are a little overwhelming you might try a magazine. Mark and I started getting Cooking Light a little over 10 years ago and we just change our diet one or two recipes at a time.
ReplyDeleteSometimes simples things are best and easiest. You can throw some chicken in your crockpot and add bbq sauce, either add potatoes to the pot or make baked potatoes and add some broccoli - dinner. You also can put the chicken pieces in a pan with bbq or cream of chicken soup, with the baked potatoes in the oven. My mom used to try not to bake just one thing in the oven so as not to waste the energy. While that stuff is baking, you could bake also apples with raisens and nuts in the center.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! :) I will have to find some magazines at the library and add those ingredients to my shopping list!!
