Fall is Definitely In the Air!

Fall is definitely in the air here in Greeley-finally! There have been cooler days with some rain and clouds and at a local produce store, Sprouts, there are all kinds of squash and pumpkins! I'm trying to look up soup and stew recipes that have a fall taste-yum! I would have to say fall is definitely my favorite season! I love the food, the decorations, the colors, crunchy leaves, and cooler weather! I can't wait until it's actually cold enough to wear sweaters, scarves and cute coats; with October in a week it will be here very soon! Chris and I were thinking of having a pumpkin carving party in a few weeks! We would have a few friends over, BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin), and some snacks and drinks! We've never had our own place to entertain friends and we're itching to host the first one! Before the party though, Chris and I will probably go to a local pumpkin patch/corn maze farm and pick a pumpkin. :) We've never done that before... and we've never been to the zoo-can you believe that?! We have a bucket list going!!

Since the last post Chris and I were tested on, "In Sickness and In Health." I got sick first, thankfully it was only a 24 hour bug but it was the worst; it was like the mini flu. I am so glad Chris was there to take care of me! I am not sure what made me sick but it was the second time since getting married; I have some theories as to the cause and one of them is tomatoes. Maybe I have developed an allergy to them? Who knows! But I am eliminating raw tomatoes from my diet for the next month and seeing if I get sick again or not. (Pray I don't!!!) About a week later Chris got sick too, he had the same symptoms as me (minus the fever) but it only lasted for 24 hours too. Maybe it's stress, the neighbors, germs, cold weather, who knows!
Pray for health!!

Unfortunately, due to being sick we never got to go see the aspens changing in Estes but it will be there next year. Instead we went to go see a movie (which we haven't done since the honeymoon), we saw, "You Again." It was a really good movie and brought back memories from middle school and high school for both of us-good and bad! It was a good conversation starter AND it was good to go on a date! It's so funny, before we got married we would always go on a date: Starbucks, movies, restaurants, etc. We went out and did stuff, but now that we're married we mostly stay at our place: cooking, playing games, watching Seinfeld, etc. But it was just so great to actually dress up and go out! :) Pretty crazy how your perception of dates change once you get married! Today we received the cd with all of our wedding pictures-so exciting! I cannot wait to print of my favorites and display them in the apartment! Time to get decorating!

Work continue to goes well for Chris and I and I've sold a few products through Avon! I'm praying that it really starts to take off-especially with the holiday season just around the corner! Which reminds me: exactly 3 months until Christmas, from today! And only 11 weeks until my birthday! I absolutely love this time of year, it is so exciting!! :) I definitely have not started any Christmas shopping but I'm going to have to think creatively this year with a small budget!

Enjoy the cooler days, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, crunchy leaves and the orange glow of this season!
Happy Fall!

Making Our Happily Ever After...

It has been one and a half months since Chris and I tied the knot-can you believe that?! It seems like forever ago, yet at the same time it really doesn't! We are still loving Greeley. It continues to stay hot though; yesterday we set a record high of 93 degrees... IN SEPTEMBER!! Hopefully it will start to cool off soon. Speaking of cooling off, that reminds me of snow, which reminds me of snowboarding. I just checked out Warren Miller show times for this winter season. Should Chris and I go see it in the Springs or the Loveland/Fort Collins area? Hmm...

This was my first week of work and I loved it! I didn't love waking up at 5am though and working an almost 10 hour day but the little girl, Lauren, is absolutely adorable. She is probably the most easy-going baby I have ever known. But Chris and I are thankful we both have jobs now and at the rate we are making money we are making about $400 each month over our needed budget. Praise God! He is really taking care of us and providing everything that we need. We are continuing to love Christ Community Church here in Greeley and we are going through a great series right now! We are studying Genesis 1 and 2 together. I cannot begin to describe to you the first sermon of the series; it was eye-opening and just amazing. If you are curious check out the sermon here: http://cccgreeley.org/321339.ihtml (9/12/10)

Yesterday we made Dad's Dip and Grandma Harrington's Famous Spaghetti. Both secret family recipes and they both turned out delicious and perfect. We love cooking together and Chris is still teaching me techniques: I know how to cut things with a big knife all fancy now! We are still trying to come up with things to put on our weekly menus... Have any ideas??? It is so tempting just to get a pizza or go to Taco Bell but homemade meals are so much better but it's hard to come up with stuff to make because the cookbooks can become overwhelming. Ahh!!

Please continue praying for Chris and I. That our marriage would continue to be wonderful and that God will continue to bless it. That we would enjoy our jobs and work with servant's hearts; when Chris has to deal with an angry customer or when I am so exhausted it's hard to play with the baby. Pray that Chris and I will continue to lean on each other and on God and that we would trust in Him to provide for us. Pray that I can figure out what is wrong with my car this weekend! Thank you for the prayers. :) We appreciate them so much.

"That's My Tent!"

The 4th Annual Harrington Camp Out was a lot of fun! It was so great to see everyone-it had been almost a month! Once we arrived at the Crags Campground it was time to set up camp! Chris and I received a tent from his parents at our virtual wedding shower in July and were eager to use it! It was a great little tent and easy to put up... once we knew how! Our tent has a little "grommet" at the back of the tent that functions as a very tiny window, very cute! After camp was set up we relaxed for a bit and waiting for Bethany and Alex to arrive; once they did it was time to cook dinner! That night we had steak grilled over a campfire with baked potatoes, salad, and banana bread! It was soooo delicious! Once the sun set it was ridiculously cold; coming from 95+ degree heat I was frozen!! I was very thankful for the sun to come back the next morning and warm everything up... just a little bit.

The next day we went on a hike up to the Crags-it's about 3 miles round trip so not bad at all! However, Chris and I definitely felt the altitude; we usually don't since the campground is only about a 3000ft gain in elevation from Colorado Springs. Since we came from Greeley which is about 4000ft it was more like a 6000ft elevation gain. Who knows though, it takes various times to get acclimated to higher altitudes but we definitely felt winded when we went hiking! Phew! On the way back down to the campground, Chris and I stopped at our tree to add '10. It's so cool to come back to the tree each year and see how our past carvings have "aged." We cannot wait to go camping again next year and add '11. Plus the camping part is fun too!!

This week I am meeting with an Avon Representative to get signed up to sell the products! My mom does it and it is an easy way to make just a few extra bucks while enjoying discounts on make-up! I am also meeting the family I am going to nanny for on Friday for a "trial day!" Pray that this goes well! Chris continues to enjoy his job and is receiving a lot of great customer reviews! That's my hubby!!

It's a quiet week this week, but we are still enjoying every minute of being married, we wouldn't trade it for anything!

Does anyone have any favorite fall recipes they'd like to share? Meats, breads, veggies (squash recipes!), etc?! :)
